“In the morning, you can forget it. You can go back to pretending you don't like me, and I can pretend that I don't care. But for tonight, let me pretend you're mine.”
The Ballad of Never After is the second book in the series following Once Upon a Broken Heart (the first book)
Stephanie Garber, the writer, once again immerses us in a world where magic is the norm, and the Magnificent North feels like home.
I am not surprised by how quickly engaging this fantasy romance book is, just like the first one. You will read this in one sitting. It’s a bestselling book for a reason.
My Review of the Book:
About the Characters:
The story picks up where Once Upon a Broken Heart left off, with Evangeline Fox, the main protagonist, trying to move on from her previous betrayals.
Jacks and Evangeline's chemistry is still burning and slightly growing, but just when you think you understand their relationship, new twists make you question everything.
Miss Fox is always on a journey of self-discovery, but there’s nothing new about her character—she's still the same naive, good-hearted person who doesn’t believe that evil can fully consume someone, even someone like Jacks. Yet life certainly challenges her many times.
Jacks, on the other hand, steals the show with his unpredictable, morally gray personality. We still aren’t sure of his true motives.
You start asking yourself: Are we ever going to know why Jacks is the way he is?
The plot of the ballad of never after:
Evangeline realizes she is still tied to a curse, and of course, she embarks on a journey to free herself.
This leads her into dangerous realms, forcing her to seek out ancient, forbidden knowledge.
Despite Jacks’ unpredictable behavior, Evangeline grows closer to him, and the two find themselves in intimate and intense situations.
“Jacks no longer felt like her enemy, he felt like her home.”
Evangeline also encounters new characters, some allies, some foes. Moreover, she discovers hidden powers within herself that she never knew existed.
This enemies to lovers story is soo unique with the touch of magic , I never was eager to read a romance fantasy story , maybe because it feels unreal but this one is different , it makes you truly believe in magic!
Conclusion
No matter how much I try to express in words how incredible this book is, I cannot truly convey my feelings. You have to experience it for yourself!
